Day 1
July 27, 2018 - Friday: Welcome to Belize!

After landing in Belize, we went straight to our hotel, the Black Orchid Resort in Burrell Boom, had an orientation and free time to explore on our own.
Figure 3: A guide, provided by our hotel, took our group out on the Belize Old River to spot birds, iguanas, crocodiles, & howler monkeys while enriching us about the culture & history of the area. We saw four crocodiles, numerous iguanas, & many different species of native birds.

After the boat tour and dinner, Dr. Wayde gave an introductory lecture about Sustainable and Alternative Tourism, which we were to take notes and reflect on in a journal entry that night.
